Welcome Lifelong Learners!
Ready to start the Year of the Horse embracing renewed opportunities for growth? I’m excited to share the course I developed during my action research at USC will now be offered online through Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) in 2026!
Course Title: Making Meaning in Later Adulthood: A Memoiristic Journey.
Course Description: (from the MPC Spring 2026 Catalogue)
“This engaging six-week course offers a meaningful opportunity for older adults to reflect on their life journeys through guided writing and conversation. Each week, participants will explore gentle writing prompts designed to spark memories, insight, and reflection on life experiences, relationships, and personal values.”

I drew inspiration for this course from psychologist Erik Erikson’s ideas about finding wisdom and fulfillment later in life, and Mark Nepo’s “The Fifth Season: Creativity in the Second Half of Life.” The course encourages thoughtful discussion about identity, legacy, and the stories that shape who we are. I hope you will join us!
