What’s next after completing an Ed.D. in May and successfully defending my dissertation in July?

A new online Community Writing Workshop

October 2025!

You are invited to participate in the inaugural Community Writing Workshop: “Meaning Making in Later Adulthood.”

WHAT: Community writing is the practice of coming together to reflect, write, and share. In Community Writing, our words gain new meaning when they are witnessed and engaged by others. We explore complexity in ways solitary reflection or debate cannot. The 6-week workshop is not about producing polished work—it is about self-discovery. There are no prerequisites, all writing levels and styles welcome.

WHEN: October 4, 11, 18, 25 and Nov 1 and 8, 2025. 8:30a-10:00am PST.

WHY: When we write together in community, something shifts: we slow down enough to listen deeply to ourselves; we witness one another’s stories which broadens our perspectives; we practice candor and vulnerability in a way that builds trust; and we discover patterns and connections that we might miss on our own. Although we are on a variety of paths, your quest can help guide mine, and mine can perhaps help guide yours.

WHERE: Weekly online synchronous Zoom sessions (link to be provided.)

HOW:  I facilitate establishing community agreements, group check-ins, and open-ended writing prompts. We engage in individual free writing, small group sharing, listening, large group closing reflections and integration, plus additional resources. Through writing activities, participants will be supported to: Accept and embrace life’s imperfection; consider their achievements and regrets;
come to terms with choices made along the way; find peace with one’s story; and cultivate a sense of meaning and purpose in later adulthood.

COST: The 6 week workshop is offered on a sliding scale: $150–$300 for all six sessions. Please choose a rate that reflects your financial circumstances. Consider gifting the workshop and participating with friends and family. If cost is a barrier, partial and full scholarships are available by request—no one will be turned away.
